Sam Sudar

Sam Sudar is a software engineer at Substack, where he has been working since 2021.12 He is a senior engineer on the team responsible for writer-facing surfaces and is leading Substack's podcasting product.1 Some of his notable achievements at Substack include:

1. Rewriting the audio processing pipeline and leading the live changeover to the new system.1

Prior to joining Substack, Sam worked at Google from 2017 to 2021, where he was part of the Chrome for Emerging Markets team.1 He holds a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Washington, which he completed in 2017.13 His doctoral thesis focused on designing technology for existing infrastructure in the developing world.1
