Sam Gregory is an accomplished human rights advocate and technologist who has made significant contributions to the fields of civic participation, video, technology, human rights, and media. His exceptional skills in preparing and responding to deepfakes and emerging forms of misinformation and disinformation have earned him recognition and admiration from his peers. Gregory's expertise in using video, participatory technologies, and new media for campaigning has made him a go-to specialist in the industry. With over $1.5 million in budget under his overall responsibility, Gregory directly manages innovation-driven projects, including WITNESS Media Lab, the award-winning ProofMode and ObscuraCam projects, and technology advocacy towards major tech companies. He launched several innovations that include twice-Webby nominated YouTube Human Rights Channel, SecureSmartCam, "Cameras Everywhere" initiative, citizen video as evidence, and Mobil-Eyes Us. Gregory has experience teaching human rights advocacy through participatory media at Harvard Kennedy School from 2010-2018. He also wrote 'Video for Change: A Guide for Advocacy and Activism,' a guide designed for 2-week curriculum on video for advocacy.
