Sam Baker

Sam Baker is a Principal at Scale Venture Partners, a venture capital firm he joined in 2016. He specializes in investments related to Software as a Service (SaaS), vertical software, robotics, and other frontier technologies. Throughout his tenure, he has played a significant role in the firm's investments in various companies, including Dusty Robotics, Locus Robotics, and Socure.13

Before his current position, Baker served in multiple roles at Scale, progressing from Associate to Senior Associate, and then to Vice President before becoming a Principal in December 2021. His career prior to Scale included a position as Growth Manager at Tilt.com (acquired by Airbnb), where he focused on user acquisition and retention strategies. He also worked at Box on sales and strategic planning initiatives and began his career at Permal Capital Management, an investment firm specializing in private equity and venture capital secondaries.24

Baker holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University and is noted for his dedication to endurance sports, having completed thirteen marathons and qualifying for the Boston Marathon on nine occasions.12
