Sally C. Morton is the Executive Vice President of the Knowledge Enterprise at Arizona State University, a Professor in the College of Health Solutions and the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, and the holder of the Florence Ely Nelson Chair.
She previously served as the Dean of the College of Science and Professor of Statistics at Virginia Tech, as well as the Interim Director of the Fralin Life Sciences Institute. Before that, she was Professor and Chair of the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Pittsburgh and the founding Director of the Comparative Effectiveness Research Center.
Dr. Morton's expertise lies in evidence synthesis, particularly meta-analysis, and she collaborates with various organizations including the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Evidence-Based Practice Center (EPC) program. She is involved in multiple committees such as the National Center for Health Statistics, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Methodology Committee, and the Research Advisory Committee of the National Collaborative on Gun Violence Research.
She has held leadership positions in prestigious organizations like the American Statistical Association (ASA) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Dr. Morton is a Fellow of the ASA and the AAAS, an Elected Member of the Society for Research Synthesis Methodology, and the International Statistical Institute (ISI). She has received numerous awards for her contributions to the field of statistics.
Dr. Morton has an extensive educational background, holding a Ph.D. in statistics from Stanford University, and master's degrees in Statistics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, Operations Research from Stanford University, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences from Stanford University.
