Sahasra Pokkunuri is a dedicated high school student from Old Bridge High School in the United States, showcasing a deep interest in the medical field and a passion for helping others.
She embarked on her journey as a research student during middle school, undertaking projects aimed at addressing medical challenges. Her outstanding work led her to be recognized among the top 10% of projects in New Jersey for three consecutive years. This recognition granted her the opportunity to apply for the prestigious Broadcom MASTERS program, showcasing her STEM projects to industry professionals.
Transitioning to high school, Sahasra's enthusiasm for science remained unwavering. She excelled at the New Jersey Junior Science & Humanities Symposium, clinching 1st place and advancing to the national JSHS. Additionally, she garnered an Honorable Mention at the New Jersey Regional Science Fair for her research on preventive treatments for Alzheimer's disease. Her accomplishments also include being a finalist at the INSPO Research & Innovation Competition in Canada.
Beyond academics, Sahasra actively engages in extracurricular pursuits. She is a dedicated cross country and track runner, contributing to her high school team for two years. She has pursued piano lessons for two years and honed her skills in the classical dance form 'Kuchipudi' since the young age of five. During her leisure time, she indulges in reading and watching movies.
Sahasra is a member of The Knowledge Society (TKS), a platform tailored for ambitious students seeking to unlock their full potential. Through mentorship opportunities and a supportive peer network, she aspires to further her research career and pursue her medical interests.
Currently a 10th-grade student at Old Bridge High School, Sahasra Pokkunuri has contributed articles to Snipette as a writer and previously held roles as a contributing writer at Students x Students and as an Innovate Student at The Knowledge Society (TKS).
