Ryan Schoenike is the Co-founder and President of OceanCycle, a social enterprise dedicated to addressing the issue of ocean-bound plastics. He has a strong background in business development, public relations, and nonprofit management, with a particular focus on sustainability and renewable resources. Schoenike is also recognized as a multi-entrepreneur; he notably developed the world’s first line of sunglasses made from recovered ocean plastics.1
Schoenike's educational background includes degrees in Economics and International Studies from American University and Peking University. His work at OceanCycle emphasizes collaboration with brands to integrate sustainable materials into their products, thereby creating a positive impact on communities at risk of plastic pollution.12 He believes in the mission of OceanCycle to such an extent that he stated, “We will only have been successful when Ocean Cycle no longer needs to exist, and we’ve put ourselves out of a job”.1
