Ryan Houlihan

Ryan Houlihan is currently the Group Director of Engineering at Ryder System, Inc., leading a team of 30+ engineers to build a transportation execution platform.12 He previously served as the Head of Engineering at Baton, a logistics technology start-up that was acquired by Ryder in September 2022.13

Houlihan has a strong background in robotics and software engineering:

• He holds a Master of Science in Robotics from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Physics from Temple University.12
• His professional experience includes roles at Apple, where he developed robotic systems for manufacturing, and Kinema Systems Inc., which was later acquired by Boston Dynamics.1
• Houlihan also worked as a researcher at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, focusing on wheeled mobility on terrestrial and extra-terrestrial granular terrains.1

After Baton's acquisition by Ryder, Houlihan joined Ryder as a director of engineering.3 He is part of Ryder's newly launched technology lab, Baton, which aims to tackle complex challenges in digitizing transportation networks and operations.4

Houlihan's expertise spans various technical domains, including full-stack web development, cloud infrastructure, streamed data processing, robotics, automation, optimization, large-scale scientific computing, network security, and machine learning.1
