Ruth Brookman

Dr. Ruth Brookman is a dedicated researcher at the MARCS Institute of Brain, Behaviour and Development at Western Sydney University. With a background in Speech Pathology and Clinical Psychology, she brings a unique perspective to her work. Ruth's expertise spans various areas, from mother-infant interaction to criminal offending and ageing.

Ruth pursued her academic journey diligently, earning a Combined Doctor of Philosophy - Master of Clinical Psychology from The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development at Western Sydney University. She also holds a Graduate Diploma in Psychology with Distinction from Charles Sturt University, a Bachelor of Social Science in Psychology (Honours, Class 1) from the same institution, a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Counselling from Tabor College NSW, and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Speech Pathology from the University of Sydney.

Throughout her career, Ruth Brookman has been associated with various organizations and roles, showcasing her versatility and passion for helping others. She has served as a Psychologist and Clinical Psychology Registrar at Project Wellbeing Psychology. Additionally, she has contributed as an Associate Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Casual Academic at the MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development and the School of Psychology at Western Sydney University. Ruth's diverse professional background includes positions such as Child Protection Caseworker at the Department of Family and Community Services (NSW), Casual Academic Marker at Charles Sturt University, Life on Track Case Manager at the Department of Family and Community Services (NSW), and Mental Health Support Worker at Parramatta Mission.

Ruth's previous roles also involved positions in the healthcare sector, where she served as a Job Capacity Assessor and Speech Pathologist at the Australian Government Department of Human Services, Rehabilitation Consultant and Speech Pathologist at CRS Australia, and a Speech Pathologist in a New Graduate Position at Westmead Hospital.
