With a background in Neuropsychology, Speech Language Pathology, and Speech Communication Group from prestigious institutions like University of Calgary, University of Toronto, and MIT, Rupal's expertise spans across various fields.

As a tenured professor at Northeastern University, Rupal Patel heads the Department of Communication Science and Disorders and the Khoury College of Computer Sciences, where VocaliD originated as a spin-out from her research lab.

Apart from her role at VocaliD, Rupal Patel has been actively involved in numerous organizations including National Small Business Association, Northeastern University Health Science Entrepreneurs, AITHOS Coalition, STEM4SocialChange, TiE-Boston, Harvard/MIT, and more.
