Executive Director, R&D Administration at Educational Testing Service

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Research and Development, I led the central administrative unit that managed administrative, financial and operational activities for the division of over 1000 employees. 

Managed high functioning supporting teams on: HR-related matters (talent management, talent development, compensation, performance management, employee relations, immigration), intellectual property protection and patent application, data collection (prior review, research subject payments, data privacy, working with minors), research financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, library services, editorial support and research publications, sponsored research, federal compliance, conference attendance and sponsorships, and facilities. 

Developed and implemented employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive and inclusive work culture.

Provided oversight on internship, fellowship, and visiting scholar programs and strategic partnerships with universities to support mission-driven goals.

Associate Vice President, Research Administration

Managed day-to-day operational activities for the R&D division.

Focused on process improvement, cost reduction, and shared services across all aspects of research administration and operations.

Advocated for the division's needs and represented it in resolving issues between R&D and departments such as HR, Finance, Legal, IT, Facilities, and business units.

Supervised administrative directors and support staff, overseeing direction, coordination, and performance in support of the division.

Developed and implemented administrative processes to enhance management decision-making and timeliness, including a centralized review system for requests such as new headcounts, salary offers, hiring of consultants, and research project purchases to facilitate coordinated review, alignment, and execution.

Managed the performance management process and submission of merit awards for the division.

Developed and wrote job descriptions, conducted market review of scientitific jobs and ensured salaries are market-competitive. 

Led efforts to establish stronger recruitment strategies, effective onboarding and employee retention initiatives.
