Working on the Discovery [1] initiative. My work focuses on massively distributed cloud computing infrastructures for edge computing. In particular, how to make the OpenStack infrastructure natively distributed. For this purpose, I did several presentations at past OpenStack summits that study the behavior of a large scale OpenStack in a Wide Area Network [2], as well as wrote some articles on the Discovery blog [3].

Part of the European project A4Cloud (Accountability for the Cloud). I was attached to the Ascola research team. I have investigated the use of security techniques in cloud services to ensure information privacy. The security techniques protect privacy by converting the client’s data into unintelligible text. However, they also cause the loss of some functionalities of the service (e.g., ciphering makes personal data unreadable, but causes the loss of computational functionalities). During this work, I show that composing several security techniques ensures information privacy without the loss of functionalities. But, makes the formulation of the cloud service overwhelming. In response, I developed a new language for the writing of cloud services that enforces information privacy using the composition of security techniques. The language implementation comes with a type system that ensures the correct composition of security techniques, plus a transformation into a model checker that ensures that service preserves the privacy of its client.
