Ronald Sakaguchi

Ronald Sakaguchi, a distinguished professor in the Division of Management at Oregon Health & Science University, has been selected as the Interim Dean of the School of Dentistry while a new search is being conducted. With a wealth of experience in academia, clinical work, financial management, operations management, and research, Dr. Sakaguchi is a valuable addition to the OHSU faculty. He is an esteemed author of various publications and NIH grants, and also trained as a prosthodontist. Dr. Sakaguchi has served in various leadership roles, including as the Associate Dean for Research and Innovation at OHSU, where he led graduate courses and workshops in innovation, project management, operations management, managerial decisions, and the capstone program in the M.S. and M.B.A. programs in Healthcare Management. Prior to joining OHSU, Dr. Sakaguchi received his DDS from Northwestern University, a Master's degree in Prosthodontics from the University of Minnesota, and a PhD in Biomaterials & Biomechanics from the University of Greenwich.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Sakaguchi contributed to the University's response efforts as the leader of a manufacturing team within OHSU Logistics and Supply Chain. Dr. Sakaguchi worked closely with industry partners such as Nike, A-dec, and BMP America to coordinate production of PPE and ensured a steady supply for OHSU Health Care throughout the crisis.
