Ronald P. Spogli is a prominent American venture capitalist and diplomat, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at Freeman Spogli & Co., a private equity investment firm he co-founded in 1983 with Bradford M. Freeman. The firm specializes in investing in middle-market consumer and distribution companies, and has a significant track record, having invested over $4.5 billion in 61 companies with an aggregate transaction value exceeding $23 billion.14
In addition to his business career, Spogli served as the United States Ambassador to Italy and San Marino from 2005 to 2009, a position to which he was appointed by President George W. Bush. During his tenure, he received the Sue M. Cobb Award for Exemplary Diplomatic Service in 2008, recognizing his contributions as a political appointee ambassador.123
