As Vice President of Technology for Sprint, Dr. Marquardt is responsible for Sprint’s long-term technology strategy, the industry relationships and investments enabling Sprint’s innovation and ecosystem development goals, as well as the company’s advocacy in US and global industry forums and standards bodies.  He also represents Sprint at speaking engagements, in press and analyst interviews, and as needed with regulatory bodies and other industry stakeholders.

Drove multiple corporate strategies to transform the company from a commodity access supplier into a differentiated provider of applications and access solutions. Led 35+ software engineers in 5 groups: Systems Analysis & Release Management, Database/data warehouse, Business Intelligence, Systems Engineering, and Software Configuration Management, in support of the company's OSS and NMS systems.

Motivated and maintained team during corporate bankruptcy. Improved the leadership, communication, and processes of the systems analysis team, increasing their utility to customers while increasing the agility and predictability of the release planning process. Director of Software Development and Systems Infrastructure

Led the architecture, development, testing and deployment of new network services and applications:
o  Developed bundled IP access service within a single quarter utilizing an agile concurrent engineering process with continual refinement. Result: Dominant market share in consumer wholesale DSL market (60% by revenue in 2000).  $225MM, or 61%, of 2007 recurring subscription revenue.
o  Created CDN-like architecture for delivery of broadband video content. Demonstrated the first broadband Internet simulcast of live television (“The Drew Carey Show”) in 1999 and the first-ever Internet delivery of video content encoded at 700 kbps in 2000.
o  Increased ARPU of existing access customers by 50-200% through the development of company’s first value-added bundles – managed security and firewall services.

While in this role, also matrix-reported to Corporate Development for the analysis of strategic business alliance and acquisition opportunities.

Director of Advanced Services

Led pioneering development of a voice and data DSL access platform designed to provide the first integrated TDM and packet architecture for incumbent carrier market. Developed architecture and completed first phase of design when company was acquired and new developments were put on hold.

o  Led strategic outsourcing of engineering development offshore (Israel and Ireland).
