Rod Ryan

Rod Ryan has a diverse background in military, law enforcement, and academia. He spent over two decades in the U.S. Army, serving as an operator and NCOIC of all sniper elements in a Light Infantry Division. He also worked as a police officer in the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., where he held patrol, training, and SWAT assignments. With his extensive experience as an instructor and civilian consultant, Ryan has trained thousands of law enforcement, military, and private special ops personnel in the U.S. and overseas. His training and operational experience spans the full spectrum of special operations. As the President/CEO of SMTC, he continues to provide tactical team, hostage rescue, and linear clearing concepts to clients. Ryan is also an instructor at West Virginia University, teaching Law Enforcement Basic and Advanced Firearms. He received his PhD in International Studies/Terrorism from Harrington University-London in 1999.
