Roberto Porta

Roberto Porta is an accomplished education specialist with years of experience in cross-cultural settings, differentiated and scaffolding teaching, and ESOL and SLIFE populations. He is a strong advocate for a holistic approach to language functions teaching and has honed his skills in Blended Learning, Backward Design, Project Based Learning, Formative and Document-Based-Question assessments, and student-centered activities. Roberto's expertise spans multi-level classrooms, youth-at-risk, adult, homebound, and alternative education.

His journey started with a B.S. in Business Professional Management at Nova Southeastern University, where he developed a keen business sense. Roberto followed that with a Strategic Marketing Management Executive Program from Harvard University and a Human Resource Executive Program from Stanford University. He continued to expand his knowledge base with an M.S. in Education from Florida International University and a Master's Degree in Applied Politics at the International Foundation for the Public Policy and Administration (FIIAPP).

Roberto has a diverse work history that started with BJ's Wholesale Club - where he served as the Inventory Control Manager, Customer Service Manager, and even the Exports Manager. He later moved on to education and held senior positions as the High School Principal at Lincoln International Academy and the Executive Director at Population Services International. Roberto has also worked as an HR Consultant/Trainer at Nicaraguan University of Humanistic Studies, and served as the Secretary General at the Ministry of Education of Nicaragua.

In his current role as a Professional Educator/ESOL Specialist at Fairfax County Public Schools, Roberto brings his years of experience and expertise to create an engaging and dynamic learning experience for his students.
