Robert Zubrin is an American aerospace engineer and author known for his advocacy of manned Mars exploration.
He pioneered Mars Direct, aiming to reduce costs and complexities by utilizing resources on Mars for oxygen, water, and rocket propellant.
Zubrin founded the Mars Society due to government disinterest in Mars exploration after the success of his book The Case for Mars.
He holds a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Washington and a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Rochester.
