Robert Teel is an accomplished registered U.S. patent attorney with a background in electrical engineering, business, and legal practices. He is dedicated to extending thoughtful IP strategies for technology companies, particularly those that focus on building advanced software, electrical circuitry, and optoelectronics. His practice, which includes U.S. and foreign patent procurement, worldwide patent portfolio management, patent disputes, and more, profoundly assists in the creation of protection, monetization, enforcement, and defense of intellectual property.
Robert employs his technical and legal skillset to provide counsel on whether to patent inventions and helps secure commercially meaningful patents worldwide. Additionally, he advises on technology transactions with emphasis on software and patent licensing. Robert is a pro bono counsel for The Optical Society (OSA), Columbia Section, and also serves as its Treasurer, which he incorporated as an Oregon public benefit corporation.
Robert graduated from Oregon State University with a BS in Electrical Engineering, followed by an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Utah - David Eccles School of Business. He obtained his J.D. in Patent Law & Intellectual Property from the University of Michigan Law School. Before joining Stoel Rives LLP, he worked as an Electrical Engineering Intern at Roseburg Forest Products and Hewlett-Packard, followed by holding positions as Electrical Engineer at Colmek Systems Engineering, New Venture Development Analyst at Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute, and Software Engineer at L-3 Communications.
