Robert Poppleton, MPS

Robert Poppleton, MPS, is the Vice President of Development at The Furman Company, based in Greenville, South Carolina. In this role, he coordinates development activities that encompass the entire process from acquisition due diligence to project delivery, focusing on office, retail, and mixed-use developments. His expertise combines both public and private sector experience in commercial real estate investment advisory, finance, and portfolio management.12

Professional Background: Before joining The Furman Co., Robert Poppleton served as a Portfolio Manager for the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations. There, he led a team responsible for overseeing over 16,000 leases across 250 international markets. His earlier experience includes working as a Property Marketing Specialist at Costar Group, where he provided marketing solutions for commercial properties.1

Education: Robert holds a master’s degree in real estate finance from Georgetown University. He also completed a graduate certification in Advanced Social, Economic, and Political Studies at the University of Notre Dame and holds a bachelor's degree in Philosophy from the Catholic University of America.1

Professional Affiliations: He is an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), where he has participated in various capacities since 2010. Notably, he served as chair for the ULI Carolinas’ Young Leader Regional Initiative Council.1

Personal Interests: Outside of his professional commitments, Robert is interested in agricultural urbanism and enjoys exploring trails and greenways around Greenville with his wife and six children.1
