Rob Johnson is a seasoned professional who collaborates with leading research funders and institutions to craft strategies, enhance efficiency, drive impact, and consults publishers and not-for-profits on disseminating research knowledge widely.
Beginning his career at KPMG in the Education practice, he engaged with higher education clients in the UK and New Zealand. Subsequently, he held senior research management positions at the University of Nottingham before establishing Research Consulting in 2013.
Over the years, Rob has overseen 100+ projects across various sectors, including government, academia, private, and non-profit, covering areas like strategy development, public policy, international development, organizational design, and technology adoption, all underpinned by a profound understanding of the research and scholarly communication landscape.
A distinguished Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Rob actively contributes as a leader in the Open Scholarship Initiative and contributes as an independent reviewer and evaluator for the European Commission.
Beyond his professional commitments, Rob shares a fulfilling personal life as a husband and father to two daughters. His interests include devouring books and pursuing his passions for skiing and rock-climbing.
Rob's educational background includes a Master of Science in Management and Leadership from Loughborough University, ACA from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and a BA in English Studies from the University of Nottingham.
