Rob Carmichael
Founder/Curator - The Wildlife Discovery Center, City of Lake Forest Parks, Forestry & Recreation
Rob Carmichael is the Curator of the Wildlife Discovery Center in Chicago, a nature center he founded in 1995. Specializing in herpetology, Rob's true passion lies with Crocodilians, particularly the Orinoco Crocodile, Crocodylus intermedius.
Rob is actively involved with the AZA's Crocodile Advisory Group and the IUCN's Crocodile Specialist Group. His nature center houses 7 species of crocodilians, including a favorite named Rosalita.
Aside from his wildlife conservation work, Rob has a background in sports, setting hitting records in college baseball and being inducted into the Elmhurst College Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
He finds contentment in his family and faith, recognizing them as his greatest blessings. Rob also enjoys field herp research on reptiles and teaches Environmental Biology at the College of Lake County.
With a Master of Science in Environmental Biology and Parks & Recreation from Aurora University, and additional biology studies at Miami University, Rob's expertise spans both academia and wildlife conservation.
