Rita Auerbach

Rita Argen Auerbach was a prominent figure in the Buffalo art community, recognized for her contributions as a watercolor painter and educator. She served as a Trustee at the Buffalo Society of Artists since September 2014 and was also a Trustee at the Burchfield Penney Art Center. In addition to her roles in these organizations, she was a past president of the Buffalo Society of Artists, reflecting her significant influence and leadership within the local arts scene.123

Auerbach was celebrated for her artistic focus on architectural, still-life, and landscape paintings, often inspired by various locations. Her work was characterized by a unique ability to capture the interplay of light and shadow, which she described as transformative.5 Throughout her career, she was involved in various educational initiatives, contributing to the development of future artists.4

Sadly, Rita Auerbach passed away on May 18, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of artistic achievement and community involvement.25
