Risto Uuk

EU Research Lead @ Future of Life Institute | PhD Researcher @ KU Leuven | Systemic risks from general-purpose AI

Risto Uuk is an accomplished Policy Researcher with a focus on Artificial Intelligence's policy-making landscape. Currently, Risto works with the Future of Life Institute, where his research investigates ways to maximize AI's potential benefits for society. Prior to this role, Risto has explored the positive economic impacts of AI with the World Economic Forum and contributed to projects examining trustworthy AI and AI policy for the European Commission and Berkeley Existential Risk Initiative.

Risto has a background in philosophy and public policy, completing his Master's Degree at The London School of Economics and Political Science. Additionally, Risto has a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy and Economics from Tallinn University.

Over the years, Risto's expertise in AI policy has allowed him to work on projects for various organizations and foundations, such as being a Global Priorities Fellow at the Forethought Foundation for Global Priorities Research and an International Strategy Forum Fellow at Schmidt Futures. Risto is a knowledgeable researcher who has the skills and experience necessary to provide insightful analysis and recommendations in the field of AI policy.
