Rifki Ismal is a highly educated individual with a diverse academic background spanning across various fields.
He studied Biology at SMA 68 Jakarta for his Senior High School education before moving on to pursue Mechanical Engineering at Universitas Jayabaya, although he did not complete this degree as he transitioned to the University of Indonesia (UI) for his Bachelor's in Economics.
Continuing his academic journey, he earned a Master's in Applied Economics from the University of Michigan and a PhD in Islamic Banking and Finance from the University of Durham.
Rifki Ismal has a rich history of involvement with esteemed organizations. He has served as the Assistant Secretary General (ASG) at the Islamic Financial Services Board and as a Sharia Scholar at the National Sharia Board (Dewan Syariah Nasional).
Furthermore, he has contributed to the academic community through roles such as being part of the editorial boards of the Australian Journal of Islamic Banking and Finance, as well as the International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance based in the UK.
His previous experiences also include significant positions such as Deputy Director at Bank Indonesia, where he was part of the Central Bank of Indonesia, and as a Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Indonesia.
Moreover, his expertise has been recognized internationally, having been a Visiting Lecturer at the Université de Strasbourg and a Visiting Researcher at the Bank for International Settlements.
