Richard Rose

Richard Rose is a seasoned international development practitioner specializing in market-based approaches across Asia and Africa.

With over 11 years of experience in the commercial industry, business membership organizations, and market development initiatives for international non-government organizations, Richard has a proven track record of driving impactful change.

Currently serving as the Country Director for Swisscontact Worldwide in Lao PDR, Richard previously held the position of Deputy Country Director for Swisscontact in Cambodia from 2016 to 2018.

During his tenure at iDE in Bangladesh from 2011 to 2016, Richard excelled as Programs Director overseeing a substantial rural market development portfolio exceeding USD 20 million.

His extensive professional reach spans various countries including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, Lao PDR, Tanzania, Thailand, Myanmar, Nepal, and Zimbabwe.

Richard's academic background includes an MSc in Urbanisation & Development with Distinction from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and an MA (Hons) in English Literature with First Class Honours from The University of Edinburgh.
