Upon winning the SALC Team Work Challenge, I was awarded an internship at Mediacom. I gained a thorough insight into the inner workings of a successful media planning and buying agency. This included gaining experience in areas such as SEO, PPC, Real World Connections, Marketing, Direct Response and Media Planning, as well as Social Media.

Marketing Intern

This was a two-day business competition where we were split into groups and faced with a scenario in which we had to create and present a marketing campaign to a panel of professionals. Our case study was to market an exhibition at an Art Gallery and we presented our pitch to judges who represented firms such as Land Rover, Jaguar, BJL, and McKellens. We were then given random budget cuts. My role within the team was to research the historical base of our task, and combine the other areas of the teams work into one, coherent project. I wrote our group's presentation, and put it forward to the judges with one other member. I also worked on planning which type of advertising we could use to get our image across, eventually focussing on social media (including an event countdown) and outdoor advertising. The competition helped develop marketing skills as well as a requirement for and understanding of finance, teamwork, problem solving, communication, lateral-thinking and presentation. After winning the competition, I was awarded an internship with global media agency, MediaCom.
