Richard Burden is a seasoned sports scientist with over 12 years of experience in elite sport, providing sport science support to top athletes and high-performance programs in Great Britain.
Currently, Richard leads the Female Athlete Health & Performance, and Bioscience Programs at the English Institute of Sport, which he played a pivotal role in developing, leveraging advancements in science, medicine, and technology to enhance health and performance support.
Richard's educational background includes a PhD in Iron deficiency and iron repletion in elite endurance athletes, an MSc in Applied Sports Science (Physiology), a BSc in Sports Science, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Exercise Physiology.
Throughout his career, Richard has held various key roles such as Co-Lead for Female Athlete Health & Performance at the English Institute of Sport, Consultant Editor (Elite Sport) at Experimental Physiology, Lead for Bioscience / Physiology Technical Lead at EIS, Senior Physiologist, Technical Lead at EIS/GB Rowing Team, Senior Lecturer at St. Mary's University, Physiologist at the British Olympic Medical Institute Intensive Rehabilitation Unit, and Physiologist at the GB Rowing Team.
