Ricardo Cavalheiro is the Superintendente de Índices at B3, Brazil's main stock exchange. He has been instrumental in the recent launch of two new indices: the Ibovespa B3 Estatais (IBEE) and the Ibovespa B3 Empresas Privadas (IBEP), which were introduced on October 7, 2024. These indices aim to provide clearer insights into the performance of state-controlled and privately-controlled companies listed on the Ibovespa, addressing a growing demand for more detailed market analysis.123
Cavalheiro emphasized that these new indicators serve as a "thermometer" for investors, allowing them to track market movements across different categories of listed companies. The indices are designed to reflect the average performance of highly negotiable assets and will utilize a methodology similar to that of the Ibovespa, with a rebalance occurring every four months.234
In his role, Cavalheiro has also highlighted the importance of modernizing financial products to meet evolving investor needs, suggesting that the B3 is entering a new era of market indices.56
