I am responsible for a broad range of electrical engineering services for renewable energy projects including utility scale wind power plants, and solar power plants including utility scale, commercial and industrial scale, and residential portfolios, and battery energy storage systems, and plant repowering projects. Services include technical due diligence (detailed design review, review of interconnection agreement and associated interconnection studies, and construction monitoring), owner's engineering and third party design review, detailed design, and interconnection services. These engineering tasks cover the full range of generators/inverters, and electrical balance of plant including medium voltage collection system, grounding systems, collector substation, and transmission line, including plans, specifications and design studies and calculations.

I had been on projects such as:Corona and EMF Study for high voltage transmission line ,PG&E Synchrophasor Project (black start using Synchronized Pharo Measurement, developed voltage instable case to be used for voltage predictor .Southern California Edison  Dynamic Stability Studies for QC3&C4 in the Northern and Eastern Part of the SystemImpact study of PV generators on distribution feeders using CYME and PSCAD software.Study of connecting wind farms to the grid using ETAP and SKM software.Arc Flash studies for wind farms.Substation and cell site grounding for PG&E using CDEGS software.Planning assessment of the load serving capability of the EPCOR 72kV system.System Impact Study Generator Interconnection using GE Positive Sequence Load Flow Software (PSLF) for both transmission and distribution.Performed several System Impact Study (SIS) for all proposed projects within Pacific Gas and Electric Company Territory’s. The studies conducted under steady state and transient conditions.Involved in developing a set of action tables based on load flow analysis (used PSLF) results for various wind generation and load levels for a transmission system. The action tables were used in conjunction with Bayesian Belief Network.   Reviewed and verified justification for installing D-VAR reactive compensation system to provide voltage control and step voltage mitigation support at a proposed 3MW Solar Farm.

Used CDEGS software for grounding system analysis for hydroelectric stations. It included soil resistivity measurements and analysis, fault current calculations and distribution, ground grid integrity tests, ground grid measurements and calculation and step and touch voltage measurements and calculation.

Aedon Consultants

Worked on protection and coordination analysis for industrial plant. Worked on studies to calculate the maximum capacity of load for existing transmission system within the plant by adding only new generators.

Andritz Automation

Used DSAToolsTM (Analysis tools for system planning and dynamic security assessment of large complex power systems) for System Planning and System Stability Analysis for Pennsylvania, Jersey, Maryland Power Pool ( PJM) plants.

Powertech Labs Inc.,

Worked on short circuit, protective coordination, and arc flash studies for Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) plants. Worked on power system study of the distribution system for Wichita well field. Used  SKM software for load flow studies.

Burns & McDonnell

Used CDEGS software package (Current Distribution, Electromagnetic Fields, Grounding and Soil Structure Analysis) for  performing the following tasks:Worked on the electromagnetic field (EMF) study for the new privately funded 240 kV transmission line between Alberta & Montana. The study evaluated several electrical parameters such as: electric field, magnetic field, audible noise, radio interference and television interference.

SNC-Lavalin T&D

Worked on Grounding System Study for Leaf Rapids and St. Laurent station (69kV/12 kV) using CDEGS software. Worked on completing an analysis report for Dorsey (230 kV station) well water supply pump grounding using CDEGS.  Worked on upgrading the Radisson and Dorsey Bipole 1 Converter Stations 600 V second grade auxiliary power systems. The upgrades improved the availability of the Bipole 1 converters such that the removal of one bus of a 600 V power centre from service for maintenance would not result in a reduction in HVDC power transmission and the removal of one bus of a 600 V power centre from service for maintenance and the subsequent failure of an additional bus would not result in a reduction in HVDC power transmission of more than one pole. The failure of a bus includes failure of the power source to the bus due to failure of the 4160/600 V transformer, 4.16 KV or 600V switchgear or other cause.  Worked on decommissioning of the degassing processing rooms that was in conjunction with Manitoba Hydro’s Mercury Arc Valve Replacement Project. The scope included preparing the complete project schedule, engineering estimates, modifying/deleting drawings, writing work packages and decommissioning procedures and technical support during decommissioning. Worked on ground electrode site selection that would be most appropriate and practical for the proposed HVDC interconnection project between Manitoba and Ontario.  Conducted multiple PTI-PSS/E simulations for stability studies required to evaluate and adjust governor, exciter and power system stabilizer settings for the TeckCominco Waneta generators near Trail, British Columbia.

Assisted in a project that involved learning the physics of positive temperature coefficient (PTC) polymer devices and modeling their behavior in power-circuit current interruption applications. Two of the most widely used analog hardware description languages Mentor/HDLA and Saber/MAST were employed in this project.
