Lecturer at University of St Andrews
Renald Schaub is a Lecturer at the School of Chemistry, University of St Andrews, UK.12 He graduated in 1996 from the Department of Physics at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and completed his PhD at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL).1 After postdoctoral research at the University of Aarhus, he joined the University of St Andrews in 2006 as an EaStCHEM Hirst Fellow and became a Lecturer in 2011.12
Schaub's research focuses on understanding fundamental principles and mechanisms in surface chemistry and physics.13 He specializes in high-resolution scanning probe microscopy and spectroscopy (SPM and STS) to study nano-scale design and characterization of functional materials.1
At St Andrews, Schaub teaches various courses, including photon-based spectroscopies, mathematical tools for chemists, and physical chemistry practical laboratory demonstrations.1 He is also the convenor for integrating chemistry and honors research projects for MChem and BSc students.1
Schaub has received several awards throughout his career, including prizes in 2000, 2004, and 2006.1 He is actively involved in research projects and has supervised multiple datasets and theses.1
