Régine Romain
Régine Romain is an artist, educator, visual anthropologist, and racial justice strategist + equity coach based in Brooklyn, NY, with a rich heritage as a descendant of Haitian revolutionaries.
With over 20 years of experience, she is dedicated to promoting love, freedom, understanding, and respect in addressing issues of race, religion/spirituality, and representation through participatory learning practices.
Régine has founded the WaWaWa Diaspora Centre in Benin, West Africa, focusing on healing historic wounds related to the TransAtlantic Slave Trade through arts, education, and media production.
She is a storyteller and cultural producer known for her award-winning short films, podcasts, and photographic work that ignite critical consciousness and radical transformation.
Her contributions include editing educational guides, creating lesson plans, and authoring books like 'Nou Pap Bliye: A Haitian Coloring Book' in remembrance of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.
Régine holds a BS in International Studies from Bowie State University, an MFA in Documentary Filmmaking from Howard University, and an MA in Photography and Urban Culture from Goldsmiths, University of London.
