Rebecca Roberts

Rebecca Roberts is a Landscape Ecology Programme Officer at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, working specifically on the Nature Unlocked programme at Wakehurst.34 She studied Geography at St Catherine's College, Cambridge, matriculating in 2009.1 After graduating, Roberts traveled throughout Europe and Asia, conducting research and journalism on sustainability topics.1 She later founded EnviroVisuals, a service using art to improve access to environmental and social knowledge.1

Currently, Roberts is involved in Kew's Landscape Ecology Programme, which aims to research and share the values of UK biodiversity.4 The programme transforms Wakehurst, Kew's wild botanic garden, into a 'living laboratory' to study the benefits of biodiverse British landscapes.2 Roberts' role involves working with fundraisers, scientists, corporate partners, and philanthropists to support Kew's global work on climate change, plant diversity, conservation, and sustainable development.14

Roberts is passionate about political ecology and often considers questions about power dynamics, voices, and values in environmental contexts.1 Her work at Kew focuses on developing nature-based solutions to critical challenges such as climate change, mental health, and food security.24
