Raymond DiPerna

Raymond DiPerna is an experienced Intellectual Property (IP) attorney with over 20 years of experience, currently serving as Special Counsel at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP in San Diego. He specializes in preparing and prosecuting utility and design patent applications in the electrical, computer, and mechanical arts, both domestically and internationally. Raymond has a particular focus on telecommunications, internet-related hardware and software, internet security and authentication methods, systems for mobile phones, automatic generation of screens for mobile apps based on backend services, and other related technologies. His expertise extends to areas such as e-commerce, business methods, financial transaction systems, memory systems, imaging processing systems, x-ray sensors and dental equipment, firearms, and tub, shower, toilet, faucet and flow systems, amongst others.

Apart from patent prosecution, Raymond also has experience in preparing IP license and transfer agreements and advising clients on trade secret and copyright protection. He has also drafted litigation support documents, conducted analysis for defending against infringement claims by Non-Practicing Entities, and prepared opinion letters regarding patent infringement, validity, and enforceability- including freedom to operate.

Raymond's education includes a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, a music minor from Lehigh University, and studying Law from the New England School of Law and University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
