Ravi Gurumurthy

Ravi Gurumurthy is the Chief Executive Officer of Nesta, a global innovation foundation, a position he has held since December 2019.12 Prior to joining Nesta, Gurumurthy served as the Chief Innovation Officer and founder of the Airbel Center at the International Rescue Committee in New York.13

Gurumurthy has an extensive background in government and innovation:

1. He worked in various roles within the UK Government, including:

   • Director of Strategy at the Department of Energy and Climate Change (2010-2013)36
   • Strategic advisor to the Foreign Secretary (2007-2010)36

2. At the International Rescue Committee, he was responsible for designing, testing, and scaling products and services for people affected by crises in over 40 countries.34

3. Earlier in his career, Gurumurthy worked as a researcher at the think-tank Demos and in local government in London.36

Gurumurthy holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Brasenose College, University of Oxford (1995-1998).26 His work at Nesta focuses on tackling major societal challenges through innovation, including issues related to productivity, aging society, social cohesion, and climate change.15
