Artist & Community Engagement Director
Rashida Chase, an Oakland native, is a passionate vocalist, culture and wellness advocate, and a driving force in the local arts scene.
Her commitment to music and culture led her to establish Liberated Culture, a platform nurturing local artists, bridging generational divides, and celebrating the authentic culture of Oakland.
Rashida has actively contributed to the local arts community by collaborating with activists to bolster cultural funding and revive the Cultural Affairs Commission.
She is a seasoned performing vocalist, having lent her talents to various social justice initiatives with Mooncandy Live House Ensemble/Embodiment Project.
Rashida also serves as the Director of AMP Oakland, overseeing a popular busker series in Downtown Oakland that featured over 170 performances in 2019.
With a belief in fostering emerging talent, Rashida is a proud member of the Advisory Board for Skyline High School's Visual and Performing Arts Academy, her alma mater.
Currently, Rashida is enrolled in the International Well Building Institute’s WellAP Exam, setting her sights on venturing into real estate development to establish affordable artist housing options, catalyzing ownership opportunities for creatives.
As a Creatives in Place participant, she continues to amplify her impact within the artistic community.
Rashida brings a wealth of experience, having a background in nursing, marketing, and extensive involvement in community development projects.
Her versatility shines through her roles as a former Artist & Community Engagement Director at Ivy Hill Entertainment, Co-Host for MOM DJs Radio at KPFA Radio, and various other engaging positions that have shaped her into the multi-faceted creative force she is today.
