Raja Mugasimangalam's education includes a Post Doc in Genome Sequencing from the Weizmann Institute of Science, an MSc in Biotechnology from Madurai Kamaraj University, an MSc in Biotechnology (Zoology Dept) from the University of Pune, and a BSc in Biochemistry from PSG College of Arts and Science in Coimbatore.
His professional journey includes founding Genotypic Technology and being an Executive Council member at ABLE - Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises. Previously, he founded Qtlomics and held roles as an expert in Molecular Biology at QBI Quark Biotech USA/Israel, a Scientist at Argonne National Lab, a Postdoctoral Fellow and Co-investigator at SKCC Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center in San Diego, and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Weizmann Institute of Science. Raja was also a PhD graduate student in Biotechnology at Madurai Kamaraj University.
Active in the scientific community, Raja serves as an elected EC member of ABLE, focusing on networking and public relations and collaborating closely with startups and start-up incubators. He actively participates in sequencing SARS-CoV-2 isolates from India and other regions, identifying co-infections in COVID-19 patients, and testing sewage and the environment for viral pathogens. Moreover, he collaborates with biopharma and vaccine companies, leveraging genomics for various applications.
