As an academic, Dr. Behal has facilitated outcomes improvement in over 45 US academic medical centers and crafted the original bespoke risk adjustment models in the clinical database used by US academic medical centers. He has also improved clinical outcomes and reduced costs as chief quality officer, engaged physicians in the design of cost-efficient clinical pathways, achieved NCQA Level 3 PCMH, and developed SafetySteps toolkit for patient safety, used internationally. Dr. Behal has a special interest in primary care for complex patients, having cared for patients before and after solid organ transplant.
