Rafael Corrales

Rafael Corrales is an experienced entrepreneur, investor, and advisor with a successful track record in the tech industry. He is the Founder of Background Capital, a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage startups with the potential to become industry leaders. Prior to this, he was a General Partner at CRV, a venture capital firm based in California. He also served as an advisor to Instacart, a popular online grocery delivery service, during its early stages, and was a first-round angel investor in Blockchain, Webflow, Clearbit, and Luxe.

Before his career in venture capital, Rafael founded LearnBoost, an educational technology company that was acquired by WordPress (Automattic). He also played a key role in developing popular libraries like Socket.IO and ExpressJS, which helped popularize Node.js.

Rafael holds a Bachelor's degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is recognized for his expertise in startup investing, entrepreneurship, and technology.
