Senior Software Engineer

Arcadia is a climate tech company aiming to stop climate change by breaking the fossil fuel monopoly. I work on our community solar product, which allows individuals and small businesses to join solar farms at no cost. As a Staff Engineer, I build technology that automates and simplifies community solar enrollment.

Staff Software Engineer

• Managed 7 engineers across 2 teams within Community Solar. Managed sprint activities, long term roadmapping, day-to-day execution, and career growth of my teams, while still providing technical guidance and implementing features.

• Created a QA and release process to reduce risk for big releases. Released major projects using this process, such as a rewrite of the entire user dashboard, integrating 2FA support, and migrating 2 applications to Typescript ahead of schedule with no customer impact.

• Developed strong relationships with all engineers on my teams; my reports rated their relationship with their manager an average of 9.4/10.

• Supported hiring across the engineering and product orgs, conducting 100+ interviews. Advocated for diversity and inclusion in the hiring process, including attending the Grace Hopper Celebration twice to recruit engineers from underrepresented groups.

Senior Engineering Manager

• Led and managed a team of 5 engineers building and maintaining the Community Solar user dashboard. Worked with product managers, designers, and stakeholders across the company to gather business and regulatory needs and translate them into technical implementation plans to improve customer retention and UX.

• Partnered with our policy team to scope an implement a Solar Advocacy Feature, allowing Arcadia members to contact their representatives to voice support for solar policy. To date, Arcadia members have sent 12,000+ emails to representatives advocating for expanding solar policy.

• Partnered with the Data Analytics team to scope, build, and release a "Move with Community Solar" feature that reduced customer attrition within movers by 50%, saving an estimated $1 million for the company. Applied for a patent for this mover technology; currently patent pending.

Engineering Manager

• Led the backend development of a brand new user dashboard for end customers, showing their energy use and environmental impact. Designed the data modeling of user information, RESTful API routes, and GraphQL interface for the client app. Made significant contributions to the front end application, contributing to building, testing, and deploying two new React apps to production from scratch.

• Led the refactor of Arcadia's APIs to be more scalable, secure, and resilient in order to support new front end applications. Designed the new APIs using Rails, Node.js, and GraphQL and completed the implementation and testing. Wrote extensive documentation on API best practices and ran department-wide knowledge sharing sessions.

• Refactored our GraphQL API to adhere to best practices and enforce standards. Implemented libraries such as DataLoader, which improved the performance of our 5 front end applications significantly.

• Developed serverless and dockerized API components for Secured Card, a platform used by over 2 million customers
• Responsible for development, automated testing, and deployment all the way to production environments on AWS
• Regularly plan and run tech recruiting events at college campuses and conduct technical interviews for campus hires
• Active member of Women in Technology; help plan and volunteer at various events

Software Engineer - Senior Associate

• Worked on team to modernize the Secured Card platform to run entirely in the cloud (AWS)
• Developed critical features for an automated delivery pipeline being used by around 400 engineers internally to push code into production and a write a command-line wrapper for the pipeline

• Intern in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, worked with SBGrid
• Developed software for Dataverse, an open source research data repository
• Expanded function of SBGrid software to improve metadata accessibility for protein structures
