Rachel Dong
Rachel Dong is a young environmental activist and student leader from Vancouver, British Columbia. As Chair of the Vancouver School Board Sustainability Conference, she leads a team of 30 students to create opportunities for youth to learn about important community issues and environmental sustainability.12 Rachel has been instrumental in organizing successful sustainability conferences, tackling climate change issues, and showcasing eco-friendly initiatives.3
Rachel's commitment to environmental causes has earned her recognition as one of Canada's Top 25 Environmentalists Under 25.4 She has also been awarded the Fay and John Wong Defence of the Environment Award for her efforts to increase environmental awareness and engagement among youth.5
As a Grade 12 student at Eric Hamber Secondary School, Rachel received the VSB Administrator Recognition Scholarship for her leadership and contributions to sustainability initiatives.7 Her work extends beyond the school board, as she has been acknowledged as one of five BC students making a significant difference in environmental activism.6
