Dr. Rachel C. Doran, PhD RAC is a highly motivated biomedical scientist with a strong background in immunology and vaccine development. She excels in designing, performing, and analyzing research, showcasing strong presentation skills and exceptional organizational abilities. Dr. Doran is a quick learner with an eye for detail and a talent for simplifying complex concepts. Her research interests revolve around protein immunogen design, antibody binding assays, and glycobiology, with a focus on improving existing HIV immunogens and understanding the immune response's complexities. She is particularly interested in applications in medicine, including inflammation, autoimmune diseases, and antibody/B-cell development.
With a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular Cellular Developmental Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology and Microbiology from the University of California, Berkeley (graduating cum laude), Dr. Doran has a solid academic foundation. During her graduate studies, she focused on developing clinical application molecules, honing skills in cloning, cell culture, protein expression, antibody characterization, and assay development.
Dr. Doran has gained valuable professional experience as a Senior Regulatory Affairs Specialist at Cepheid and as a former Global Regulatory Affairs Associate at Grifols. She has also contributed to academia as a Graduate Student Instructor and Researcher at UC Santa Cruz and as an Assistant Lab Course Developer at UC Berkeley. Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Doran enjoys outdoor activities like exploring snowy mountain ridge lines and free-diving along the California coast.
