Rachel Butler

Rachel Butler is a prominent figure in the healthcare and life sciences investment sector, currently serving as the President of the Catalytic Impact Foundation (CIF) since July 2018. In this role, she focuses on advancing innovation in healthcare by investing in early-stage companies that address significant unmet medical needs, particularly in areas such as brain health, children's health, rare diseases, women's health, and health equity. Under her leadership, CIF has made a commitment to support women entrepreneurs, with 41% of its portfolio companies being female-led.12

Before her tenure at CIF, Butler held the position of Senior Vice President of Family Office and Investor Relations at Cavendish Global from June 2015 to May 2017. Cavendish Global is known for connecting family offices and impact investors to support transformative healthcare initiatives.2 Her extensive experience includes analyzing and evaluating investments in the life sciences sector, where she has reviewed hundreds of companies and led investment processes.1

Butler's background also includes co-founding Asthma Magazine, a patient education publication that played a significant role in educating patients about asthma and was utilized by various health organizations. This magazine was later acquired by Elsevier Health Sciences, where she continued as Editor-in-Chief for five years.12

In terms of education, Rachel Butler holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government from St. Lawrence University. She is actively involved in various philanthropic efforts and serves as a trustee and treasurer of the Ross Conservation Trust. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys skiing, sailing, and tennis, and resides near Boston with her family.12
