Rachel Been
Design Lead, Google Nest
Rachel Been is a prominent figure in the design industry, currently leading the Foundation team at Google Nest. She supervises the design of the Home App, ambient computing platform, and ecosystem teams at Google Nest.
With a background at Google as the Creative Director for the Material Design team, Rachel has been instrumental in evolving design systems for Google and the broader developer and designer community.
Her experience also includes launching Google's first product imagery system, serving as the creative director of Emojis, and being the first Art Director for Google Play, where she introduced editorial design and original imagery to the platform.
Before her tenure at Google, Rachel honed her skills as the Creative Director for Billboard Magazine's online presence, Billboard.com, and gained valuable experience as a photo/multimedia editor and photographer for various AOL websites.
Rachel's rich professional journey has also seen her collaborate with renowned organizations like Magnum Photos, TimeOut Magazine, the Smithsonian Institution, and Slideluck Potshow.
She pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles.
