Rachael Vaughn

Rachael Vaughn is a seasoned legal professional with a focus on providing business-relevant legal advice for technology-focused clients, specializing in intellectual property, privacy, product safety, consumer protection, open source, and regulatory counseling.

Her experience includes negotiating and drafting various contracts such as patent/technology licenses, sponsored research agreements, and other tech contracts. Currently, she serves as a product counsel at Google, supporting Google Pay.

Rachael is a registered patent attorney with extensive expertise in IP counseling, patent prosecution, and portfolio management. She holds certifications in privacy including IAPP's CIPP/US and CIPP/E.

Passionate about diversity and inclusion, Rachael has actively contributed to corporate diversity councils at Shell, Microsoft, and Google. As a testament to her varied interests, she enjoys participating in global scavenger hunts like GISH, is a regular yoga practitioner, and a mild Peloton enthusiast.

Rachael's educational background includes a Doctor of Law (JD) from the University of Houston Law Center, a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Washington School of Law, and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) from the University of Michigan.

She is a registered in-house counsel in California and licensed in Texas and Washington.
