Prasad Samarakoon

Prasad Samarakoon is a seasoned professional with over 26 years of experience in the municipal industry. He currently serves as a Project Engineer for the City of Cambridge, Ontario, a position he has held since April 2019. In this role, he manages various capital projects, including the Queen Street Sanitary Pumping Station construction, bridge and culvert rehabilitation programs, and annual city road design and construction projects. He is also responsible for the citywide annual water main and sanitary sewer main Cured In Place Pipe (CIPP) lining program and has completed significant projects like the Queen Street Trunk Sewer Main Trenchless Rehabilitation in 2020. In addition to his engineering roles, Prasad Samarakoon is a part-time professor at Conestoga College, where he teaches Construction Project Management focusing on Environmental Law and Construction Safety in Ontario since September 2017.1

He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Peradeniya and has completed a short course in Micro Tunneling at the Colorado School of Mines. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario since May 2011.1
