Pj Hyett

Phillip Jeffrey Hyett is an American software developer, technology entrepreneur, and co-founder of GitHub.1 Born on August 10, 1983, in Naperville, Illinois, he earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from North Central College.1

Professional Background

Hyett co-founded GitHub in 2008 alongside Tom Preston-Werner and Chris Wanstrath.1 By 2018, when GitHub was acquired by Microsoft, his stake in the company was estimated to be close to $1 billion.1 Before GitHub, he worked as a senior software engineer at CNET Networks and was a partner at Err Free.1

Racing Career

In addition to his tech entrepreneurship, Hyett has pursued a career in auto racing. In 2022, he founded AO Racing, an IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GT Daytona program.1 He has competed in various racing series, including the GT World Challenge America, Le Mans Cup, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.1 In 2024, he participated in the LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, driving an AO Oreca 07 with Louis Delétraz and Alex Quinn.1
