Schmidt pursued a BSc in Computer Science and Media from Hochschule Furtwangen, followed by a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the prestigious MIT Sloan School of Management.

Throughout his career, Schmidt held various key positions in renowned organizations. These include serving as the VP Technology Innovation and Interim CTO at Axim Collaborative, Director of Digital Learning and Collaboration, and Advisor on Digital Credentials at MIT Media Lab. He also worked as the Director of the Media Lab Learning Initiative and as a Director's Fellow at MIT Media Lab.
