Philip Lackmaker

Meet Philip Lackmaker, a talented and experienced designer with over a decade of experience working in different design studios, agencies, start-ups, and enterprise technology companies. Possessing a BA in Graphic Arts from Liverpool John Moores University and completion of the Front-end Development course at General Assembly, Philip is equipped with the necessary skills and expertise to lead and nurture a team effectively.

Philip's robust career history includes working as the former Global Creative Director, Global Design Manager, Design Systems, UX & Design Manager, and Creative Director for Consumer products at Just Eat Takeaway.com, Lead Product Designer at Potato, Lead visual designer at Method, Lead product designer (UI/UX) at ustwo, and Designer at Sapient Nitro. He has also worked as an instructor at RED Academy and a mentor at adplist.org.

Philip leverages his proficiency and experience as a designer, manager, and leader in various design activities such as creation of iconography sets, re-designs of UI's, and multiple design systems, further adding that he has a deep understanding of the entire production process from running workshops, managing user testing to building complicated prototypes. His expertise also extends to coding, which provides him with a clear viewpoint when working with engineering.

Philip's educational background and professional history have equipped him to become a leader with empathy for team members and understanding of tasks and pressures required. He has notably been in a managerial role over the last six years, where he focused on nurturing teams by creating clear visions and strategies intended to empower individuals and create happy and high-performing teams able to achieve their goals.

Aside from being a qualified designer, Philip is also a music enthusiast who began his career by combining his two passions in a creative analogue environment where their team crafted nightclub flyers for music venues such as Fabric, and designed album artwork.
