His talent shone through as he advanced to the proprietary trading desk, concentrating on algorithmic trading strategies, before shifting to Barclays Capital. Here, Phil was vital to the Barclays Analytical Trading Systems (BATS) team, where he concentrated on automated fixed income trading solutions.

As one of the pioneering members of their automated FX trading team, Phil played a crucial role in the team's establishment, which ultimately led to the formation of XTX Markets. His work at XTX Markets, where he became a partner, was instrumental in shaping robust trading strategies that significantly enhanced the firm's trading capabilities. After a successful and fulfilling career, Phil retired from XTX Markets in April 2016.
