Postdoc at CW3E/Scripps, UCSD | Atmospheric Science Ph.D.
Peyton Capute is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for Western Weather and Water Extremes (CW3E) at UC San Diego's Scripps Institution of Oceanography.14 She recently joined CW3E in August 2024.2
Prior to her current position, Capute was a Ph.D. student in Atmospheric Science at the University at Albany, SUNY, where she worked as a Graduate Research Assistant.5 Her research focuses on atmospheric science, particularly in areas related to weather and climate extremes.
At CW3E, Capute is likely involved in research related to atmospheric rivers, extreme precipitation events, and their impacts on water resources in the western United States. The center is known for its work on these topics, as well as for developing improved forecasting capabilities for extreme weather events.13
Capute's transition from a Ph.D. student to a postdoctoral researcher at a prestigious institution like Scripps indicates her growing expertise in the field of atmospheric science and her potential to contribute significantly to ongoing research at CW3E.
